Using Content from Other Websites
Blackboard has a built-in Mashup Tool for embedding content from YouTube, SlideShare, and other websites. You can find a great set of instructions on using this tool on the Blackboard Help Site.
General Instructions for Using External Content
Getting content from other websites that are not built-in to the Blackboard Mashup tool can be tricky, but here are some general steps:
- Many online videos have and EMBED tool right on the page. This will give you a few options for putting the video into Blackboard, sending in an e-mail, etc.
- Check to make sure that the video you are embedding/linking to are publicly available. Some video content you have access to is available only to members.
- ALWAYS link back to the original page where you found the video.
You never know how your students will access this content, so it's helpful to make it easy for them to get back to the original source of the video.
- It's helpful to provide a little context for the video.
