ALERT -- ProQuest Access Issue
A recent change in the security of the ProQuest database server to the more secure HTTPS mode has resulted in some browsers returning error messages regarding security or privacy when users attempt to access ProQuest via the Library’s links. The connection to ProQuest is secure and where the browser allows the user to ignore the error message and continue to the resource, users should do this. Some browsers make it more difficult than others, but generally there will be some kind of link or button (i.e. Options, Advanced, etc.) which will allow the user to access options for ignoring the error message and continuing on to the resource. This is not a problem with the Library’s connection to ProQuest nor with the remote access password (so long as it is the current one posted in the Madonna Portal). It is recommended that if a security or privacy message is encountered when attempting to access ProQuest, the user should close the message, clear the cache and history in their browser and refresh the connection to the Library’s page before attempting to reconnect to the resource. If the user still receives the error message after this, check for advanced options to continue on to the resource. If the user still cannot connect to ProQuest, please contact the Library at (734) 432-5767.
