Animal Studies: Online Resources

The Animals & Society Institute (ASI), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is a US-based interdisciplinary global research institute whose mission is to advance and share knowledge to improve nonhuman animal lives.

The Animal Welfare Information Center (AWIC) was established in 1986 as part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) National Agricultural Library (NAL) in Beltsville, Maryland. As a library service, AWIC provides information, products and services related to the improved care and use of animals in research, testing, and teaching as described in the Animal Welfare Act.

The Human Animal Bond Research Institute (HABRI) is a non-profit research and education organization that is gathering, funding and sharing scientific research to demonstrate the positive health impacts of companion animals.

For more than 70 years, Humane World for Animals—formerly called the Humane Society of the United States and Humane Society International—has been a leader of the animal protection movement, tackling the root causes of animal cruelty and suffering to drive permanent change and create a better world for all animals around the globe.

The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) houses four bureaus and is comprised of ten divisions that use a customer-driven, solution-oriented approach to cultivate and expand new economic opportunities for the food and agricultural sector; safeguard the public’s food supply; inspect and enforce sound animal health practices; control and eradicate plant pests and diseases threatening the $104.7 billion food and agriculture system; preserve the environment by which the farming community makes their living and feeds consumers; and protect consumers by enforcing laws relating to weights and measures.
